Please hug your family and tell them that you love them.

Lee's Dad died suddenly on Sunday - 6 days before our wedding. We are still in shock and my heart breaks for Lee and his family. They have decided to still fly over to Canada tomorrow as planned, so the wedding will still take place. Lee and his sister think that their Dad wouldn't want it any other way...I think that Lee and his family are incredible.

So don't stress over programs and matching ribbons, menu cards or guest books, timelines or readings. They can all begin to feel entirely irrelevant. Hug your family and tell them that you love them.

Um ya, where did 18 months go? We're flying back to Canada tomorrow and I'm so excited. We're all packed and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we don't get nailed for excess baggage. Gifts and wedding-related DIY weigh a lot.

I'm trying not to look at the weather but cannot help myself. It's not looking good for the wedding day but it looks like it will be nice and cool for our half marathon on Sunday. I think I'm more nervous for the run than getting married. Fingers crossed we make it over the line.

Off to make sure I've packed all of the Marks & Spencers sweets requested by the fam...

Weekend projects

Inspired by Tina's post on DIY coasters, I had a go at stamping my own. I bought them from Calico Crafts and just stamped away. It was fairly painless and I think they will look cute at the brunch the day after the wedding. (I did a wetness test after letting the ink dry all day, and there didn't appear to be any runnage, which was quite a relief).

I also had a start at our programs. They are fairly simple and at 4.25x5.5 inches, hopefully petite enough to fit into people's pockets. I've done 5 today. 75 more to go... :)







And finally....I finished my little birds today. I know they're trendy and a complete copyright-infringement, but I think they're just so cute. I followed the instructions posted by Peonies and Polaroids and used fabric I had around the house (i.e. crummy white shirt that I was going to use as a rag and a cheapo old skirt that I was going to donate).

I don't think that they're too bad, considering I was so rubbish at sewing that I used to glue my Girl Guide badges on (I obviously did not get my sewing badge). I think I'll put them either on top of the cake or just beside it. Hopefully just somewhere where I can see them, as they do make me smile...

Weekend purchases

We've been engaged for 18 months. Leave it to me to wait until 2 weeks before we leave for the wedding to finish my shopping.

I finally bought a rehearsal dress - a brand new with tags Monsoon dress from Ebay. I admit to having a small obsession with this style of dress, as this green one is now my third (I also own it in white with polka dots and in a silky blue colour).

I also finally found some shoes and earrings at Debenhams. Sometimes I think the shoes are a bit fugly but they have a nice low heel (which I need) and were only 15 pounds! I'm quite happy with the earrings. (Although amused that I spent just as much on earrings as I did on shoes...)




I also found this vintage golden syrup tin at a charity shop down the road. I plan to use it to hold the Sharpies for our guest book. I have a small obsession with vintage tins (I blame my Mother) and I love the colours...

Finally, my pendant also arrived from Etsy seller PiecesOfMePendants the other day. I'll attach it to my bouquet. I know that the whole Keep Calm thing is considered over done, but I really think I need to remind myself to relax. I tend to become a crusty hose-beast when stressed and there is nothing worse than a miserable bride... :)
