Long weekend work

Today is a bank holiday in the UK so it's lovely to be at home! Although I've brought home some work to do (I need to get a lot done before a certain 3-week holiday in early October), I managed to sneak in some fun 'work' over the weekend.

I haven't been able to come up with anything fun for the cover of our welcome booklets for our out of town guests. So I decided to turn to a t-shirt that Lee bought in a random shop in town for inspiration...


I'm quite happy that my non-creative self was able to recreate most of the image. Hopefully the small happy face below the print will reveal to our guests that we're not illiterate idiots and know that the plural of moose is moose! Ha ha. (Although maybe our UK guests will think that Ontario is full of unattractive girls, as the word moose is often used to describe someone who is fat and ugly)


Inside is fairly mundane stuff. But hopefully it will be of some use to our guests. There is a list of potentially useful phone numbers, a schedule of events, directions to the church, reception venue and brunch location, and maps of downtown Oakville and the area around the hotels.




In other non-work related 'work', I finally picked up some frames for my Etsy purchases at the second hand shop down the road. Three frames for 11 pounds - not bad.

I'm quite happy with how my two Edinburgh prints and my little Gocco print of Queen E look. Now I just need to figure out where I'm going to hang them.

[The picture of the left makes me so happy as I used to live in one of those buildings! Edinburgh is such a wonderful city...]

Customized Converse

My fifth pair of converse all stars are begining to finally die. I'm therefore in the market for a new pair of white ones. And as I think they would make the perfect wedding reception shoe, I can justify their purchase quite easily.

Inspired by the recent wedding blog posts of customized All Stars, I had a play on the Converse website.

Of course I had to use our 'wedding colours'! :)


I'm just not sure about what I would put on the heel. Our wedding date would cause confusion in at least 1 country because of the different ways that Canadians and Brits write dates. (10 04 08 means October 4 in Canada but April 10 in the UK)

Or I could always put McWood - our two last names combined and what I joke to Lee we should both change our names to...


It's really all a pipe dream though as they only ship to the States and you can only order with an American credit card. It's fun to play around on the site though!

Hair fear

I'm starting to stress about my wedding hair. Vain, I know. I've always liked the look of loose, low chignons - nothing too tight or too structured.

The problem is that I feel more comfortable with my hair down and the last time my hair was up for an important event was my grade 8 graduation. (And as you can see, that was not a success. What was I thinking with the ringlets? And the scrunchie around the bun?)

(Oh how I loved that Jessica McClintock dress...)

I like the look of these hair styles

But I'm quite concerned due to my hair's serious propensity towards the frizz....I may end up looking like a big frizzy mess if I leave it down. I also have nightmares of hairstyles like this with tons of ringlets; thanks but I don't want to look like Pollyanna on my wedding day.



Maybe just a nice blow out like Mrs Penguin?



I think I'll have to play it by ear and make the call closest to the day. If it's hot and humid the hair has gotta go up. Otherwise, I think I'll keep it down and hopefully look like a more polished version of me.
